Question: “Do projectors have sound?”
Answer: Some home theater projectors come with built in speakers while others do not.
If you want to create a giant movie screen in your living room and plan on using your projector with something like a laptop computer, iPad or smartphone, well, you don’t want to overlook the sound system.
You can either buy a home theater projector that includes speakers like the Optoma HD26 or you can purchase a sound system separately and connect it to the projector. If you want a bigger surround sound experience, you’ll want to look at external speakers due to their higher audio capabilities.
If you prefer having less equipment with an “all-in-one” device, projectors with audio work great too. The sound from your device (laptop, iPad, smartphone, etc..) can be played through the projector speakers when both devices are connected via an HDMI cable. More Audio Options.
A cool feature that I like about the Optoma HD26 is that even though it includes speakers, it also has an audio-out outlet. This means that you can connect to an external sound system as well. This versatility enables users to use their projector in their living rooms with surround sound, for example. Furthermore, you can set it up in your backyard with the built-in projector speakers.
As you’d expect, projectors with sound typically cost more than those that don’t. Do you plan on watching movies in a small apartment and have a computer or laptop with decent audio? You may prefer to save yourself some money and go for the no-speaker version.

As you can see, this setup is not bad at all. It goes to show that you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to set up a really cool home theater, as long as you know the tricks of the trade.
